Happy birthday Daddy

Last month was the 15th anniversary of my dad passing. Today would have been his 77th birthday. He is still sorely missed. I thought as life went on the pain of his passing would lessen but it hasn't. This is a poem I wrote for my father that was included in his obituary.

A TRIBUTE TO OUR FATHER
It seems life is much too short and things aren’t said and done.
We woke up this morning and found we had lost a loved one.
All of a sudden our mother’s husband was gone,
And our father went with him too.
No warning, no sign God called for him out of the blue.
I know he would not want us to cry,
Or bid him farewell or say good-bye.
What he would like is for us to smile,
Instead of goodbye, see you in a while!
I know he would say, “I’m in a better place,
Close your eyes and imagine the smile on my face.”
I can hear him as plain as day, saying;
“I lived for God and him only,
I walked this walk and never grew lonely.”
Don’t feel sorry for me because I’m gone,
I’m finally at rest in my heavenly home.
Cry no more tears, dry your eyes,
I fought the good fight and captured my prize.
I can hear my dad loud and clear,
Don’t feel lonely I’m always near.
Focus on the good and not the bad,
Never allow the enemy to make you sad.
Don’t think of this as the end
It’s just the beginning,
Your time will come; I’ll see you soon.
Gotta go now, the angels are singing my tune.

More Christmas cards for my upcoming craft-show. The gingerbread man and house are from My Community cart. The Christmas tree card was done using the Lace tree and snowflake embossing folders from provocraft. The jewels are fashion jewels purchased at Hobby Lobby and the glitter is diamond stickles purchased from scrappersmusthaves.com. The sentiment is computer generated. The other card is done using the winterhouse embossing folder. Last but not least, the fire place card was done using the Joys of the season cart.

Halloween

I thought I'd do a few Halloween cards for a craft show I'm participating in. The Mickey and Goofy Halloween card is done using the mickey and Friends cart. The ghost and pumpkin are from Paper dolls. The paper is some Halloween paper I found on sale at Joann's. The witch card is also done using the Paper dolls cart. Minnie is also done using Mickey and Friends.

Christmas again

Ok, more Christmas cards. The two nativity scenes were done with plain card-stock paper. I used the Paper Dolls cartridge. It took hours to cut and piece the characters together. The outcome is pretty good if you ask me.
